THE HIGH SCHOOLS.

MEETING OF THE BOARD. The monthly meeting of the New Flymouth High Schools Board was held last night. Present: Messrs L. C. Sladden, H. Trimble, S. G. Smith, M.P., F. W. Atkinson, L. A. Nolan, A. E. Washer, and Dr Fookes. The question of the drainage of Hendrie Street was again under discussion. The matter was eventually left in the hands of the chairman and Messrs. Washer, Atkinson, and Nolan to confer with the Borough engineer. A letter was received re appointing to the board for a further term Messrs. E. P. Webster and L. A? Nolan, whose term of office had expired on December 31 last. The Department of Education wrote regretting the delay in forwarding grant monies, but stated that the delay was not altogether the fault of the Department. The chairman’s action in authorising the construction of a brick instead of a wooden foundation for the new classrooms at the Boys’ School was firmedit was decided to make further representations to the Borough Council re the connection of “Montosa” with the municipal water supply Messrs. Trimble and Washer were appointed to obtain quotations for about thirty new kauri desks for the Boys’ School, and to refer the quotations obtained to the building committee, with power to act.
