Christchurch, Jan. 17. The wool sales were continued on Saturday, the main catalogue being concluded about 3 o’clock and the star lots at 8 o’clock. Some choice clips brought good prices, local mills and Bradford and American buyers competing. Superb merino brought up to 23|d; super Corriedale to 17d down to 13; super three-quarterbred to 15Ad. Exactly two-thirds of the catalogue sold at auction. A gqod clearance of the pass-ed-in lots have been made since. On an average the prices, compared with last sale, were: Super half-bred and three-quarterbred |d to l|d better; medium and inferior half-breds par to tower; medium and inferior three-quar-terbred Ad lower; super crossbred par to %d higher; medium and inferior par to %d lower. A feature of the sale was the good demand for all good quality wool in the respective ‘grades. DUNEDIN WOOL 'SALES. Dunedin, Jan. 17. The local wool sales begin on Wednesday. It is expected there will be an aggregate of 9000 bales. This is a small offering. Growers are holding back in the hope of better prices. NEWTON KING, LTD., REPORT. Prices for all classes of stock show a marked decline since the beginning of the New Year. The yardings have been comparatively small and little business has been done. Quotations for the undermentioned sales are as follows: Urenui, Jan- ]o.—Fifteen-month steers £3 13s 6d, heifer calved £7 15s. dairy cows £lO, springing heifers £8 10s, £9, £ll ]Os. (Stratford, on the 11th inst. — Store cows £3 Os, £4 ss, £5 ss. £5 12s Wd, better sorts £6 ss. £6 16s, in calf heifers £ll 15s, bulls £3 2s 6d, £4 15s, £5 12s 6d. Inglewood, on ,12th inst.—Fat ewes and wethers 21s 3d. store cows £4 7s (id, £6 7s fid, £6 15s, 15-month steers £3 8s fid. 18-month do. £4 18s, £5, bulls £.3 12s fid to £7‘ 2s 6d, dairy cows £ll, £l3.
