DEPORTATION GIVES TROUBLE, „ DEPARTMENTS CLASH. ’ ‘5 •?< By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 16, 5.5 p.m. Washington, Jan. 15. State Department and the Labor Department have finally agreed to the deportation of O’Callaghan (Mayor of Cork) who will be compelled to leave as soon as a steamer is available. In the meantime, OXJallaghan is testifying before “the Commission of One Hundred,” which is receiving tales of alleged tortures inflicted on women and children by and Tans,” and also other atrocities.—'Aus.-N.Z. Ignoring the State Department’s order for the deportation of O’Callaghan, and despite the official announcement that an agreement has been reached, Mr. Wilsou (Secretary of Labor) has ordered that O*Callaghan be given the status of a sailor, with permission to land and to re-ship. Secretary Davis has announced that an immediate investigation will he made into the incident, which amounts to open war between the State and Labor Departments.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Absu.
