SEVERE PENALTY IN FUTURE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Yesterday the Magistrate sentenced John Millar, a licensed carrier, charged with stealing a trunk entrusted to his care, to three months’ imprisonmeni. The complainant arrived at a railway station and handed his belongings to accused to deliver at a hotel, but they failed to arrive. The property was subsequently found at accused’s residence. The Magistrate said thefts by licensed carriers would be punished most severely in future.
