A NEW MOTOR SPIRIT.
OFFICIAL TEST IN There has just been made in Wellington an official test of Natalite in comparison with benzine. Four runs were#nade in a modern sixcylinder car with the. same quantity of each spirit over precisely the same route. . This demonstration took place in the presence of Mr. W. H. Morton, city engineer, Wellington; Mr. W. Beauchamp Platts, secretary N.Z. Automobile Union; Mr. Eric F. Boult, Attorney for Australasia of Wolseley .Motors, Limited: Mr. D. M. Findlay, Barrister, Wellingtofl; Mr. C. B. Norwood, Managing Directc;, Dominion Motors, Limited; Mr. S. Blackley, Managing Director of \'ickers. N.Z., Limited; -Mr. W. Forrest Marshall, coiiijulting engineer, Sydney; and of The Evening Post. The testing ear was driven by one of the Wellington citv motor inspectors. The petrol used was one of the leading standard brands. It was considered by these who witnessed the tests that throughout the capran more sweetly on Natalite than on benzine; that on the hills the propelling power of Natalite was superior to that of benzine; that Natalite proved more economical than benzine, and gave a greater mileage for the same quantity of spirit—nearly thirty per cent more miles per gallon. The trials as a whole were calculated to impress Jill who saw them with the fact that not oflly was Natalite an economical and highly successful motor fuel, but that at last there seemed to have been found a thoroughly dependable supplement or substitute for petrol, that could be applied to all internal combustion engines. Later the detailed report of these official tests at Wellington, signed by those who conducted them-, will be published in the principal newspapers. Natalite wag first produced in South Africa less than four years ago. There it has already proved a practical and commercial success. The output last year exceeded three million gallons, and even ,then did not nearly accommodate the demand. Shortly the manufactory in Natal is to be. doubled in capacity. Natalite is made from molasses, maize, palm trees and other vegetable growths. The works that are to supply Australia and New Zealand will get their raw material in the South Sea Islands.—Published by arrangement.
