TURF TOPICS. (By “Moturoa.”) Lovematch is worth watching now. Whizz Bang was sore after racing at Marton. Kea and Hallwell have been turned out until the autumn. Moutoa Camp changed hands recently at 20 sovs. If Warplane remains sound he will win big money this autumn. On Ellerslie form Silver Link should keep the cracks moving in the Taranaki classic events next month. Charlie Millen, in addition to training horses, is now caretaker of the racecourse at Levin. In winning the Auckland Trotting Cup from 84 yards behind. Man o’ War proved himself a top-notcher, and Mr. J. R. Corrigan appears to have got a cheap horse—even at 1500 guineas. An Auckland scribe, in condemning the Absurds as non-stayers, appears to be a hit premature. They have really had no chance yet, and it is hardly likely that a genuine distance horse will not develop next season from such great sprinters as Mermin, Rational, Going Up, Tamatete, Listowel, Fulsome, etc. Two east-offs of the Kemball team, Scornful and Explorer, won races at the holiday meetings, and on their form should win many more races. Kemball’s luck lias been right out of late. ' In view of the result of the Supreme Court action against Fred Easton, the action of the Wanganui District Committee in disqualifying the Foxton horse-owner for three months has caused a surprise in sporting circles. Needless to say, Fred Easton is appealing to the Racing Conference against the decision. Now that the Racing Commission has commenced its travels it is up to Taranaki Clubs to be up and doing. Taranaki is “starved” for permits, and you’ll never get anything unless vou ask for it! Coolpan (Cooltrim —Pasty), now \pwned by Mr. J. McDonnell, ' of Marton, joined ‘’Mick” King’s team this week. He will probably be kept for steeplechase events this winter.
