GERMAN-IRISH PLOT.
DE .VALERA ON THE EVIDENCE NOT DENIED. By Telegraph.-—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 12, 7.30 p.m. London, Jan. 11. De Valera has broken his silence by publishing a long statement in the Irish Bulletin, the secretly circulated Sinn Fein organ. De Valera attempts to discredit the white paper recently issued and denies there was any German plot in 1918. He says: “The document on army organisation attributed to me is not in my handwriting. I did not compose it as the Government state. The discovery of the whole plot was due to Sir Edward Carson. The British Government, by sheer audacity of lying, are trying to deceive the English people and foreigners.” De Valera makes no effort, however, to counter the detailed evidence contained in the white paper—Aus.-N.Z.
