WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Louisa Annie Bannerman, married, aged 45, committed suicide by cutting her throat with a razor. At the inquest evidence was given that she was released on probation from the Sunnyside Mental Hospital last month. She had been despondent, but had shown no suicidal tendencies. A verdict of death from a razor wound in the throat, selfinflicted whilst mentally unsound, was returned. _ BODY IN THE SURF. Christchurch, Last flight. The decomposed body of a man was found floating in the surf at Sumner to-day. It is believed to be that of the man who jumped into the sea from the pier a fortnight ago, leaving his coat and vest on the pier. In a pocket of the coat was about £7 in cash and an address, “John Baird, care of J. Studholme, Hinds.” DEPRESSED AFTER WAR SERVICE. Dunedin, Last Night. The inquest into the circumstances of the death of James McDonald Dales, a young married man, who was found shot in a front room of his house at Musselburgh, on Saturday evening, was concluded before Mr. Widdowson, coroner. A formal verdict was returned that deceased died of shock following laceration of the brain, caused by a bullet wound self-inflicted while deceased was suffering from nervous strain and depression caused by war service. RETURNED SOLDIER’S DEATH. Auckland, Last Night. Ebenezer Johnson, aged 36 years, was found dead at his residence to-night with a gunshot wound in his heart. A pea-rifle was beside the body. The deceased was a returned soldier, and a painter and signwriter by occupation. He was not married.
