The sun rises to-day at 4.43 a.m. and sets at 7.17 p.m.; to-morrow, rises at 4.44 a.m. and sets at 7.16 p.un. IN FORT. Nil. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Wangaratta, from Wellington, to-day. Rarawa, from Onehunga, to-morrow. West Mahwah, from 'Frisco, Saturday. Flora, from Wellington, Sunday. Kamona, from Whangarei, early. Corinna, from Dunedin, neit week. Kaiapoi, from Melbourne, next month. THE RARAWA. The Rarawa is expected to arrive from Onehunga at 5.30 to-morrow morning with passengers and cargo. She will return north at 8.20 p.m. WANGARATTA TO-DAY. The Wangaratta left Wellington at noon yesterday for New Plymouth, and is expected to berth here at about 6 a.m. to-day. She is taking in a quantity of frozen meat here, and completes loading at Wanganui and Wellington. PORT HACKING LEFT COLON. Cable advice has been received by the C. and D. Line that the Port Hacking, en route from New York, left Colon on the 9th instant for Auckland and Wellington. THE PORT NICHOLSON. The steamer Port Nicholson, now putting out London cargo at Auckland, will proceed thence to Napier and Wellington, and should reach Wellington next Sunday. THE WAIOTAPU. The steamer W'aiotapu, which is discharging Liverpool cargo at Auckland, is expected to reach Wellington on the 21st inst. WAIKOUAITI AT AUCKLAND. The Union Company’s new cargo steamier Waikouaiti, which comes to the agency of the Federal Line, arrived at Auckland on Tuesday afternoon from Liverpool via Panama. After putting out part cargo at Auckland the vessel will come to Wellington, where she is due on the 24th inst. THE NORTHUMBERLAND. The Federal Line have been advised by cable that the liner Northumberland left New York on December 31 and Newport News on January 7 for Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, and Brisbane. The vessel is due at Auckland on February 2, and at Wellington on February 7. THE MAIMOA. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company’s new steamer Maimoa, which arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday, left Newcastle (England) in ballast on her maiden voyage on October 11 last for New York, where she loaded general American cargo, including case oil. She left New York on December 15, and had an uneventful trip to Lyttelton. The Maimoa was launched last year from the yards of Pataer's Shipping and Timber Company, Jarrow-on-Tyne. She Is a steel shelter deck steamer of 8011 tons, her dimensions being, length- 478 feet, breadth 63 feet, depth 31.2 feet. She is twin screw, driven by quadruple expansion engines, and developed 14 knots on her trials. She averaged a little over 12 knots on the trip from New York. She has six holds, four being Insulated, and is well equipped with Samson posts and double derricks for the rapid handling of cargo. The vessel also carries a 30-ton trellis deck between Nob. 1 and 2 holds for heavy lifts. Captain F. Green, who was in command of the M&tatua on the trip before last, 18 in charge of the Maimoa, and has the following officers Chief, C. Wood; second, H. Hempieman; third, R. Vandewood; chief engineer, J. G. Ferguson; second, H. Randle; third, J. J. Houghton; fourth, A. Crumbly; refrigerating engineer, R. Loftus; wireless, J. Cunningham and C. Booth; chief steward, O. W. Beckley. The vessel carries a company of 87 all told, all of whom are. Britishers.
