WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) December 11. A special meeting of the Borough Council is to Jje held on Wednesday evening to deal with the half-holiday question. Mr. W. Smith had a mishap with his ’bus near the Mahoetaki cutting on Monday last through the rear axle snapping. Mr. Smith, acting quickly with his brakes, no serious consequences were entailed. The old vexed question of a post office suitable to the requirements of Waitara has been again brought before the Minister. I have lieen here IS years and the agitation for an up-to-date post office has been submitted to Ministers on numerous occasions, but the appeal seems to have fallen on deaf ears. •Towns of lesser importance, or rather which have not the same bulk of business tq-cope with, hate their up-to-date poet office; even Awakino. \
