MAKING GERMANY PAY, SEARCHING QUESTIONS ASKED. FIXING DEFINITE PAYMENT, By Telegraph.—Presi Assn.—Copyright Received Jan, 10, 8.30 p.m. London, Jan. 10. The Daily News summarises the measures which Britain and France are taking in order to fix definitely the form and amount of the German indemnity and reparations. They include forty-one searching questions, which go to the roottrf the financial situation in Germany. The German answers will probably be available for the Allied Conference on the 19th inst. The Daily News believes Germany is answering the questions frankly, including details of the flight of German capital and Germany’s export trade. France is troubled by the cost of the upkeep of the Rhine armies, particularly a bill of 263,000,000 dollars, the cost of the upkeep of 14,000 American soldiers, compared with 2,002,000,000 francs which 90.000 French soldiers have cost France since the armistice.—Aus.-N.Z.
