AN ANTI-BRITISH MOVEMENT. CAMPAIGN AGAINST LANDLORDS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received Jan. 8, 5.5 p.m. Delhi, Jan. 7 Agrarian disturbances on a considerable scale are taking place in the United Provinces, and large crowds of villagers are moving round the country destroying crops. Several of the ringleaders have been arrested. The riots are due to the activities of notorious agitators, who are inciting the mobs against the landlords. Colonel Wedgwood, condemning the whole non-co-operation scheme as a movement against Western civilisation, said the best thinkers and responsible men were dropping out of the movement. which was now approaching a stage of serious violence.—Aus.-NrZ.
