READING APPOINTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Jan. 9, 11.5 p.m. London, Jan. 8. It is officially annougped that Lord Reading has been appointed Viceroy of India. —Aus.-NJZ. Cable Assn. [This appointment was reported last week, but announcement did not then have official sanction. The Earl nf Reading, as Sir Rufus Isaacs, was 'olicitbr-Genera! and later AttorneyGeneral in Mr. Asquith’s Ministry before the war. He was appointed Lord Chief Justice in 1913, and was raised to the ■ ccrage on New Year’s Day, 1914.
