A NEW DISEASE.

FATALITIES IN BRITAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. London, Jan. 5. A mysterious disease, designated “sleepy hiccoughs,” appeared in Paris a few r weeks ago. It is probably connected with encephalitis lethargica and ia reminiscent of the beginning of the Spanish influenza epidemic. Cases are appearing in England, Switzerland and Montreal. There were four fatal cases in Manchester during the week-end, and sixteen cases in London during the past few weeks. Doctors, whilst recognising the seriousness of the disease, for which no cure has been discovered, are of opinion that the situation is at present not alarming, in consequence of the comparative scarcity of the cases.—Reuter.
