LOSS BY FIRE.
FEW OUTBREAKS LAST YEAR. In New Plymouth 1920 was a light year as regards the number of fires which occurred, and only eight calls wer< received at the Central Station, including a false alarm. The damage done by fire to property was approximately £3OOO, there bfeing very few serious outbreaks. For a period of nearly eight months the brigade did not have a single call. Speaking of the work generally. Superintendent Bellringer told a Daily News representative that a good state of organisation had been reached, and the brigade was fairly well manned.
