NOMADS v. NORTH CANTERBURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last -Night. The match between the Rangitikei Nomads and North Canterbury was concluded to-day, the Nomads winning by 78 runs on the first innings. North Canterbury made 210 in their first innings (II Bennett 37, McFarlane 34, Feary 22). Bernan took 4 wickets for 58, and Gilmer 4 for 53. The Nomads in their second venture made 172 for 6 wickets, and then declared, the highest scorers being Bernan 19, Bank 29, Ongley 31, Cameron 18, Caw not out 26, Hindmarsh not out 22. H. Bennett took 2 wickets for 33, Coekroft 3 for 57, Smith -1 for 22. When stumps were drawn North Canterbury in their second innings had 9 wickets down for 84 (J. H. Bennett 21/ H. Bennett not out 32). A friendly match was played between the Pa tea and Waverley Clubs on New Year’s Day on the Patea Domain, resulting in a victory for Patea. Waverley, in their first innings, made 98, and in their second innings 71, a total of 169. Patea made 193, 87 in the first innings, and 106 in the second, the match thus resulting in a win for Patea by 24 runs. THURSDAY COMPETITION DRAW KOR THIRD ROUND.
