AUCKLAND BEAT CANTERBURY. By Tftlagraph.—Pre* As*oeiatlon% Christchurch, Lo*t Night. Canterbury made an inglorious exhibition to-day, when its cricket team was defeated by Auckland by 382 runs. Requiring 475 runs to win, Canterbury, in their second innings, only made 92 (Brosnahan 27, Watson 20, Patrick 25, Sandman 13). N. C. Sneddon took 5 wieketa for 23 runs, and S. G. Smith 3 for 31. Auckland, in their second innings, made 361 (C. A. Sneddon, not out, 87). THE HAWKE CUP. Gisborne, Last Night. The Hawke Cup match was won by Poverty Bay by two wieketa (Blair, not out, 60; Foster, not out, 2). THE NOMADS ON TOUR. Chriatchurch, Last Night. The Nomads commenced a two days’ match to-day against a North Canterbury side. Batting first, the Nomads made 288, of which D. C. Collins was responsible for a splendidly comyilad 166. Arkwright made 20, Cave 19, Foster *B, and Banks 25 not ; outWhon stumps were drawn North Canterbury had made 99 for the loos of four wieketa (Adams 19, Bennett not oat 32). SYDNEY PLAY STOPPED.
