LAWN TENNIS.

DOMINION TOURNAMENT. MEETING OF CHAMPIONS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The New Zealand tennis championships were continued to-day, play being particularly interesting by reason of the fact that the visiting champions were competing. Tilden met Patterson in the singles championship before 1000 spectators. Patterson gave his opponent some very stiff games, but Tilden won comfortablv 6—3, 6—3, 6—l. In the doubles championship Tilden and Johnston beat O’Hara Wood and Heath, 9—7, 6—S, 6—2, 6—4. A match which aroused great interest was the meeting between Brookes and Patterson and Washburn and Hardy. The game resulted in a win for the Australians, after a five-set 4 —6, 5—7, 6—2, 6—4, 6—2.

There was nothing outstanding in the meetings of the international tennis players. The match' between Brookes and Patterson and Washburn and Hardy went to five sets, the Americans taking the first two, and Brookes and Patterson had to play pretty hard to win. The best game of the day was that between Tilden and Johnston and Heath and O’Hara Wood. In this contest "Wood caught the eye particularly, and showed what a very fine doubles player he is. By perseverence he made considerable progress, and his determination is such that he has every prospect of success
