THE NATIONAL MUTUAL.
A SPLENDID YEAR. (By Wire.—Published by Arrangement.) Mr. F. W. Nicholson, manager for New Zealand for the National Mutual Life Association, has received the following cable message from the head office, Melbourne: — “The new business for £he year just ended has been the best on record. The amount written was six and a half million pounds, being nearly nine hundred thousand pounds more than last year. The total income for the year, including premiums and interest, was nearly two and a half millions, two hundred and twenty-five thousand pounds more than last year. Death claims amounted to three hundred and eighty-one thousand pounds, being a quarter of a million less than last year.
“Interest earned on the average funds is over five per cent., and the total assets of the Association now stand at nearly fourteen million pounds. “The new business written in New Zealand for the past year was close on one million pounds.” f
