BRITISH SHIPBUILDING. i Little by little Great Britain is climbing i back to the position it held in the shipping ; world before the war. Tire returns made by Lloyd's show that nearly a half of the tonnage now on tho stocks is building in British yards. xti© United States, if still a serious competitor, is constructing less than one-half of what Britain is building. The United States, however, now has a mercantile fleet such as it has never before possessed, and is probably finding such difficulty in its full employment that new orders are not forthcoming. The world as a whole now has ns much shipping as was afloat before the war, but freights remain tempting, and although prices are high it will probably be some .time before there will be a break in the flow of orders to British yards.
