BOWLING.

THE AUSTRALIAN VISITORS. NOT CONSIDERED A REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. The following New South Wales bowlers have signified 'their intention of visiting New Zealand: .Messrs, Jas. Wall, A. E. Matthews, D. Hardy (Marrickville Club), E. W. ft. McMillan, T. Yates (St. George), A. A. Dircks, J. Laurie (Beecroft), E. S. Phippard, V. Casey, Geofge Parkes, C. B. Rigney (Randwiek), F. J. Walters (Mosman), A. E. Palmer (Warringah), P. Gartrell (Chatswood), E. A. Benson (Victoria Park), J, Hodgkinson (Redfern), W. ¥?. Morriß, S. McLean (Lismorc), W. Soraerville, J. Gould (Balraain), R. E. Alcorn (Kyogle), J. Sanders, R. Donald (Hamilton), and R. E. Collins (Wogga). Mr. Jim Wall will lead the combination as president. Mr. E. W. R. McMillan has been appointed manager, and Mr. Hodgkinson will assist him. Messrs. G. A. Parkea and A. E Matthews will take charge of the baggage.. An executive committee to deal with matters generally has been set up composed of the following players: Messrs. Wall, McMillan, J. Gartrell, E. S. Phippard, and J. Sanders.

By no reasonable stretch of the imag« ination (writes W. F. Corbett in the Sydney Referee) can the team for New Zealand be referred to as representative. It is just a holiday muster of those who can, and want to, get away for the trip. Consequently we must not expect too much. Mr. H. C. Evans' party, which roamed over Maoriland some years back, was on similar lines. He took.care to invite only men whom he knew, would be agreeable to each other. As a mle, they do it differently when New Zealand sends an officially collected side to Sydney. They are picked men, whose chances of success are more or less good. Sydney's bowlers will remember what a force from the Dominion many of them had to face in the past. The Aucklanders recently entertained in Australia were an exception. TEey came over on their own, for the trip, and not with any designs upon the prestige, such as it is, of Australian bowling.
