WELLINGTON BEAT CANTERBURY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Wellington beat Canterbury by 71 run* Wcllirgion's batting to-day was poor, but Canterbury's was poorer, and tills accounted for tre latter's downfall. The wicket, though slow, was easy, and should have produced a lot more runs than were made on It. Wellington, In their second innings, made 134 (Hiddleston 39, McGirr 3!i, Ware IS). Read took 4 wickets for 4T, and Blunt 3 for 20. Canterbury's first Innings yielded 141 (Brysnahan 28, Hayes 19, Sandman not out 14, Read 30). Brice took 4 wickeis for 51, and Jfiddieton 2 for 3.1. Canterbury's second mnings produced 93 (Brasnahan 30, Sandman 15, Read 13). Mlddleton took 5 wltkets for 21, and McGirr 4 for 21. MATCH ABANDONED Wanganui, Last Night.
