PREFERENTIAL RECIPROCITY.
BETWEEN CANADA AND AUSTRALIA. UNDER CONSIDERATION. . By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 2S, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, Dec. 27. Tile Montreal Star's Ottawa correspondent states that a reciprocal trado agreement between Canada and Australia is under consideration, and that developments ara expected early in the New Year. The Canadian Government some time ago made proposals to Australia, but nothing was done, owing to the unstabilitv of Australian political conditions. Later, when the Australian t'ariif was being revised, the subject was again broached, the Commonwealth replying that nothing could be done - until the new fiscal policy had been ratified.
Now that the ratification has been accomplished, the Canadian trade and Commerce department intends further to propose a system of preferential reciprocity between Canada and Australia, such aj already exists between Canada and New > Zealand. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
