Mr. W. S. Glenn, M.P., is spending the holidays in New Plymouth. He is accompanied by Mrs. Glenn. , Mr. Graham Pringle and F. Judd, of Lower Hutt, are spending the holidays in New Plymouth. Mr. .T. H, Fowler, of the Land and Income Tax Department, is spending the holidays at New Plymouth. Mr. Fowler was formerly Government auditor for the Taranaki district.

Mr. At H. Tocker, M.A., assistant master at the Upper Hntt School, formerly of the 2Uth Reinforcements, has been appointed assistant professor of eijpnomics at Canterbury College. A Press Association message from Christchurch records the death of Mr. Joseph C. Helinore, barrister and solicitor, at the age of 8!) years. The deceased bad' practised his profession in Ohrist'chureh continuously for the past 59 years. Mr. J. A. Frostick lias decided to accede to the request of a deputation to stand for the Mayoralty of Christchurch. He was a member of the Efficiency Board and a well-known business man. The present Mayor (Dr. Thacker, M.P.) will not be a candidate in April.

It is announced that Mrs, Gilford Moore has been appointed lady principal of St. Mary's Church School, ITawera, in succession to Miss Banwell, who resigned at the end of last term. Mrs Moore at present holds an important Government office under the Children's Welfare Department, and previously was teaching in the Auckland Grammar School. The death occurred at Auckland yesterday of Mr. E. Button, aged 82 years (says a Press telegram). Mr Button was formerly of the legal firm of Buddie, Button,, and Co., and at one time was a temporary Supreme Court Judge. He represented Hokitika. in Parliament many years ago, and later Auckland City.
