SCHEME TO PAY FOR IMPORTS. Bj'Telnnph.—Press Asm.—CopyrlitU. Received Dec. 23, 55 pjd. London, Dec. 22. In the House of Commons, Mr. A. J. Balfour, referring to the League of Nations proposal to provide machinery whereby the impoverished countries o£ Europe might issue bonds secured by Crown. lands or specific sources of national revenue, to enable them to import necessities required, announced that the Government Was considering a scheme whereby the League's proposal could be supplemented by some form of insurance, making the currencies in impoverished counties available for the payment of imports.—Aus.-N.Z.
