THE DAVIS CUP.
SOLID WORK BEING DONE. BROOKES MAY PLAY SINGLES. By Telegraph.—Presl Association. Auckland, Last Night. Both the Davis Cup teams practised on the match court at the Domain today, and both are putting in very solid work. The Australasian captain is satisfied with the way his men are shaping, and the American captain is confident, his men having become thoroughly acclimatised and accustomed to the altered conditions. The selection of the teams will be left until the last moment. It is. however, probable that Brookes will change his mind and play in the singles, in which case he will probably replace O'Hara Wood. '
The New South Wales tennis team which was to have competed at the New Zealand championships has cabled cancelling accommodation. Two singles will be played on the first day of the Davis Cup, the doubles on the second day, and two singles on the third day.
