STATUS OF TEACHERS.
TIME OF APPEAL EXTENDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. • Wellington, Last Night. Under regulations recently issued appeals by secondary school teachers against their classification as gazetted on December 9 should be lodged in Wellington on January 8. Owing, however, to a mishap in connection with the despatch of copies of the classification list, many teachers did not receive notification before the schools broke up for the holidays, and might therefore not be in a position to lodge an appeal in the middle of the school holidays. Under the circumstances, the Minister of Education has announced that appeals from secondary school teachers will be received up to and including February 12. Teachers will receive individual notifications of this extension of time on or before the date of the reopening of schools in the first week of February.
