SETTLERS' WIFE MURDERED. Melbourne, Nov. 2fi. At Duddo Wells, sixty miles from Ouycn, Mrs. Morrison, the wife of a settler, was recently .shot dead. The murderer escaped into the bush. The husband of the murdered woman was working in a shed about 100 yards away from the house when he heard a shoi, and saw a man with a gun running away into the bush.

The suspect made for Sontli Australia and when within a few miles of Murrayville, he was found in a plot of barley. As the police party closed on him lie threw away a gun. He appeared to be insane, and was locked up on a charge ef wilful murder. °
