WEEKLY REPORT. The sales during tl:e week have not been very large, but the tone of the market has shown a slight improvement. Store cows I'uvb been sought for at prices on about a par with late rates, but graziers are Inclined lo be cautious pending the opening of the freezing works. Tour and five-year bullocks are enquired for but there are very few! offering. !
At Okaiawa, on Monday, works bulls made from £5 to £!) 15s, best cows £9 to £lO, 2-year heifers £3 to £6, small yearling heifers to £4.
At Eltl-am. ou Wednesday, store wethers made from 25s Od to 28a, shorn ewes with iambs 31s, fat maid™ heifers £l3 10s, fat cons £ll to £l2 10s, forward cows £9 hi £lO. 2-jear Shorthorn hellers £5 10s to £6, small yearling heifers to £4 10s, yearling steers to £4 Bs,. dairy cowa to £ll 10s, heifers to £ll, good slips 30s to £2- 2s, sows to farrow £3 to £3 ID.
At Waverley, on Friday, small 2-tooths made 17s, woolly wethers 32s 3d, woolly ewes 235, eives and lambs 24a Od, best cows to £'J ss, others £5 to £B, 4-year bullocks £l2 to £l3 1.-3, low conditioned three-year ditto to cr 12s Od, small Hereford and Shorthorn heifers to £3 ss, small dairy sorts to £D 4s, yearling steers to £4 12s 6d, dairy cows to £9.
■ LONDON WOOL SALES. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 18th. Inst ; Wool sales closed with an offering of free wool; better competition, mostly sold. As compared with November 20, merino and fine gieasy crossbred 10 to 15 per cent, lower; best medium greasy crossbred unchanged, and courses neglected. Nominal quota! Ipns for greasy crossbred: iiG's, Is 8d; "id's Is 4d, 44's and K% Is Id; ,'lo's and 40's, 9i/ 2 d.
FARM LAND SALE. On Saturday, IStli Inst., tin- N Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., Instructed by the Public Trustee, held a very successful -ale or farm htntls in the estate of the late Captain T. M. SniKii. These farms were purchased by adjoining settlers and local residents, and as it the custum with the I'ublic Trustee, the substantial deposit of 25 per cent, curbed anytling of the speculative clement.
While the Trustees were satisfied with the result these purchasers are to be congratulated upon obtaining good land at reasonable values. Mr. .1. Leslie Smith, nephew oS, the lata Captain Smith, attended the sale, and returned to Ntipler yesterday .morning.
