Masters, M.P., asked the Minister of Agriculture, whether, in vlmt of the statement made by the Prime Minister ilutt the (iuvcrnment can make arrangements for a favorable rate of freight with tho shipping companies on phosphates from Nauru to New Zealand, and in view of the abnormally high pr&es ruling at the present time for manures throughout the Dominion, anil, further, in view of the Prime Miuiaters. definite statement that lie is met with this very great difficulty that there are r.ot a sufficient number of crushing plants to meet the requirements of tho Dominion, he will erect the necessary and urgently required plants, to be controlled by the State; and, if so, whether he will make provision for one being erected in Taranaki.

The Hon. W. Nosworthy has now replied stating that the whole matter of crushing and grinding plants is being enquired into with a view to ascertaining the extent of the necessity for the Government supplementing existing or intending plants, and in this connection the needs of Taranaki are being fully. considered.
