"APPEAL OASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 20. In the apepal case M. Torstonson v. Whiting the Appeal Court dismissed the case with costs on the lowest scale | as from a distance. The Appeal Court delivered judgment to-day in McDonald v. Valentine. Sir Robert Stout and Mr. Justice Herdman were of opinion "that, the judgment should be reversed. Sir Bassett Edwards and Mr. Justice Chapman were of opinion that the judgment should be affirmed. The result is tliat the judgment of Mr. Justice Sim in "the Supreme Court stands, with costs on the highest scale. A TYVOUP RAID. Foxton, Dec. 20. Constables Owen and O'Donaghue stalked and raided a two-up school on Target Reserve yesterday afternoon and took the names of 36 local and outside participants.
The rendezvous is well sheltered at the foot of a sand rtdgc and surrounded by a jungle of lupin. The police wormed their way through the lupin to the top of the ridge from which they watched operations for upwards of Iw'o hours, identifying and taking the names. They subsequently came on the scene along the track; when the majority scattered in all directions The rendezvous is a leased borough reserve near the racecourse about half a mile trom the main road.
