The death occurred on Friday at Levin of Mr B. E. Gardener, town clerk, Levin, formerly Mayor for many years and a member of the Wellington Hospital Hoard. Deceased collapsed in his office several weeks ago, and never reI covered. He was one of the first business men m Levin, but devoted himself to local government, holding office at various times in every district society He was a prominent Druid. The death occurred on Saturday after a short illness, of Mr. L. Olivers, a well-known resident of l-'itzroy. who had resided in the district for many years. The late Mr Olivers was secretary of the Fitzroy Howling Club for about 12 years, had held office on the school committee, was a member of the Oddfellows' Lodge for 25 years, and was secretary and warden at Holy Trinity Church, Te Henui, for a period. His death will be much regretted by a wide circle of friends, and in particular by bowlers. Deceased leaves a widow and five children. The funeral takes place to-morrow.
