NGAERE GARDENS.

Each year sees the Ngaere Gardens becoming increasingly popular as ii pleasure report, and deservedly so, for in addition to its natural beauties the proprietors (Messrs. Lester Bros.) lose no opportunity of adding to the attractiveness of the place and the comfort of their patrons. This year a shelter pavilion, 40 feet by 20 feet, has been erected, and with the provision of a huge marquee assures the comfois of patrons, whatever tlic weather conditions may be, whilst a ladies' cloakroom has also been added. The grounds have been improved and opened out. An attraction that cannot fail to amuse are the grotesque mirrors, of which there are a number, whilst it is proposed to add a gymnasium and toboggan. The tennis lawns have been laid down in grass and are now available for play, and the catering department is right np-to-date. Indeed, all one needs to bring to the gardens is his purse, and a moderate one at that. Though the season is early, already a number of picnics have been held, including St. Joseph's Convent, New Plymouth, Motnnui and Waiau schools, Stratford, New Plymouth, Inglewgod and Waitara Convent schools. The Ngaere public school's picnic tak<; place there today, and a number of other picnics have been arranged.
