CHILDREN'S PERFORMANCE.

"SNOW-WHITE" The children's performance, of the operetta "Snow-White", given at the Workers' Hall last night, was largely attended, and the entertainment should result in a good sum being handed over to the Clarke Memorial Hostel Fund.

The efforts of the young folk resulted in a pleasing entertainment, and the story was well presented .The chief figure in the operetta is "Snow-White" (Mabel Crozier), whoso beauty excites the animosity of Queen Myra (Ina Cantel). The ftird Chamberlain (Mary Garcia) is ordered to execute SnowWhite, but this and other attempts fail, Snow-White having as faithful allies a band of fairies and dwarfs. The performance of . these tiny tots wa»a feature of the evening. The the mirror fairy, Mona Ward carried the part through with confidence, while the dwarf leaders, Bill (Florence Jenkinson) and Peterkin (Penny Boyd) were orij* inal and quaint in their acting. Two other staunch friends are Katie (Gladys Hill) and. Aunt Malid (Thelma Knott). The final stages are reached when SnowWhite is discovered by the Prince (Delma Lye), and the concerted items by the "company which follow provide some pretty ensembles. Throughout, the singing and elocutionary parts were well maintained by the performers. Accompaniments were played by Mrß. Boyd, and selections were given by Mrs. Moverley's orchestra.

At the conclusion of the performance, Mr. Hugh Baily, on belialf 'of- the Hostel Committee, thanked Mrs. Stuart Russell, the promoter, under whose direction the children were trained, for her efforts on behalf of the fund. A presentation of a handbag from the children to Mrs. Russell was also made by Mr Baily. The recipient, inr replying, 'said the cause was a most deserving one, and well worthy of support. Mrs. Russell also thanked the children for their good work and Consistent attendance at rehearsals, and the parents for the kindly interest taken in the performance and' preparation of. dresses.
