CENTRAL DIVISION. 1 El/THAM DEFEATS AVON ' Four rinks from the Avon Club (Stratford) visited Eltham yesterday afternoon and were : defeated in the banner competition by a margin of nine points, the scores being Avon 86 and Eltham 95. Holder, Astbury, Summers, Castle (s), 21. VISIT OF N.S. WALES BOWLERS. ARRANGEMENTS MADE. A largely attended meeting was held last nigtt In the New Plymouth Club's pavilion, and was representative of all the town Clubs. Mr. J. D. Sole presided. Mr. Sole outlined the programme, which had been submitted to a previous meeting. The visitors would be met on arrival at the mhll train on Friday evening, Jan. 28, On Saturday morning (29th) the Mayor was to ba asked to extend a civic welcome to the visitors, who are afterwards to be shown the beauty sports In and arouud New Plymouth. On Saturday afternoon, a match will be played between New South Wales and Taranakl. Tte ladies accompanying the visitors are to be entertained in the New Plymouth - Club's lavllion on Saturday evening at a social, and on, Sunday there will be a trip to the mountain. Strong committees were set up, representative of all the Town Clubs, to eo-op'erate with the Centre's executive to carry out all arrangements.
The president reported that he was !.n communication with the clubs In the dlalr'ct, and that ample funds would be forthcoming to give the visitors i royal time on ttelr visit to Tarunaki.
A meeting of bowlers wives was arranged for Wednesday next, the 22nd inst, In tho New Plymouth Club's pavilion at 3 o'clock, when the executive will meet them with a view to their arranging for the social functions lo be held' In connection with the visit.
