SOLDIER SETTLEMENT.

LAND FOR SELECTION*

TARAXAKI BALLOT.

Jiallots for a number of section-; of land in Taranaki open for settk-n:«ut by returned soldiers, were held yesterday at the office of the Land Board, New Plymouth. The blocks were the Koluira and Marco estates (McCutchau's) at Kohuratahi, and the Huatoki area (Paxton's). Of the Kohnru sections, four were disposed of by ballot and the remainder are still' open for selection, as are also the threo sections, comprising the Marco block, for which no applications were received. Ten llnatoki allotments were taken 'up and the remaining twenty-seven, ranging in area from two acres to 23 acres, are still open. The. ballots were conducted by the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. O. 11. Bullard) in the presence of members of the Board and applicants. Particulars are: KOHTJEA.
