Inspector "Hendry, in charge of the Wanganui police district, paid his final visit of inspection to New Plymouth yesterday, prior to the Institution of a new police district with headquarters at New Plymouth. Wellington Education District, which he has held since 1012. Mr. G. L. Stewart occupied the chair, in the absence of Mr. T, Forsyth, chairman of the board, and asked Mr. Chartcrs's acceptance of a carriage clock, suitably inscribed. The chairman, Inspector Bakcwell, and Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., paid high tributes to Mr, Charters as teacher and inspector, and also to his services in two wars, and in the field of sport. Hearty good wishes were extended to both guests. The directors and employees of the Dunedin Evening Star farewelled the Hon. Mark Cohen, M.L.C., on Friday last, on his resigning the editorship .of the paper, after u.ij years in the employ of the company. Mr. Cohen was presented with a gold "star" medal, a writing wallet, a gold fountain pen, and an album with the signatures of all the employees. High tributes" were paid to Mr. Cohen by Mr. V. E. Clapperton (manager), Mr. G. Buchanan (printer), Mr. T. ■ J. Walker (senior reporter), Mr. J. G. Moody (manager of the commercial department), Mr. W. Thompson (father of the "chapel"), and Mr. W. F. Alexander (editor).
