By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.
London, Dee. 13. The Army Supplementary Estimates show that a further £3!),750,000 will be required, whereof sixteen millions is for the Middle East, ten and a half millions for an increased army and higher cost, and eighteen millions for charges arising out of the war.
Mr. Churchill (Secretary for War) explains that it lias .been necessary, owing to the disturbed state of the world, to continue recruiting for the army 236,000 men instead of 24,000. The disturbed conditions in Ireland entailed an additional expense of about £500,000. The most important of the late war charges is the Indian Government's claim for ten millions on adjustment of accounts for stores and supplies.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
[The Army Estimates for 1919-20 amounted to 287 millions.]
