COMMENTS BY THE CORONER,
By Telegraph.—press Association.
_ Auckland, Last Night. The inquest into the death of Williain MeJiath, who was run over by a tram at Takapuna on the evening of December / and died in hospital early the next morning, was concluded before the. coroner (Mr. MeKean, S.M.) today.
fn commenting on the case, the coroner said the facts were fairly clear. i he unfortunate man was a stranger to lakixpuna and did not realise It. was mi the tramway track until it was to<j late for him to get out of th» way. •There was nothing to suggest negligence m any way. There seemed, however, to be room for improvement in the lifeguard rnscd by the company. The evi> dence showed that the lifeguard might easily become detached if one corner struck- an object. Apparently, that was what happened in this case ' The coroner then returned a-formal verdict on the lines of the medieal eridence, and added that it was quite an accidental occurrence.
