One of the scholastic successes gained by the New Plymouth Girls' High School last year was the winning of the Meath cup (for essay) by one of its pupils, Miss L. Hurle. The cup is open for competition by scholars of all secondary schools in the British Empire, and this was only the second occasion on which it had been won in New Zealand. At the school breaking-up ceremony last night the cup was presented to Miss Hurle, who is continuing her studies at Otago University, having won a New Zealand University scholarship.
