WOOL REALISATION. AUSTRALIAN PROPOSAL CRITICISED. Received Dec. 9, 8.55 p,un. London, Dec. 8. Commenting on the Melbourne conference's proposal to establish a wool realisation association, the Yorkshire Tost says the scheme is obviously intended to place power in the hand of Australian wool growers to dictate the value of merinos to the rest of the world, but £25,000,000 will not be nearly sufficient to accomplish the object, even if the British Government Wool Department were disposed to relinquish tl'e control they now exercise over two million bales. The average price of Australian wool is now £35 per bale, but the realisation association's proposal appears to be that two million bales will be re-sold to them at 12,000 tons (sic), therefore the suggestion is not i\ serious business proposition.
