WAITARA SCHOOL.
IMPROVEMENTS URGENT. A strong claim on behalf of the Waitara School was made at the Taranaki Education Board yesterday by Mr. F. Hoskin, a member of the Board, who stated that he would like to know what | was being done by the Department in connection with the provision of new class rooms at Waitara. The school itself, he said, was "absolutely rotten, and was full of disease," hundreds of children remaining away from school on this account. The Government made it compulsorv that children must attend, school, yet they would not provide a school tit for them to attend. He admitted that his remarks might be «nnewbat exaggerated but he said that he felt very strongly on the matter, and did not' feel that he. should let it rest. Someone wanted hauling over the coals on account of the delay. The chairman said that the Board recognised tI;o urgency of the case and suggested that. Mr. Hoskin should go to Wellington as a deputation to press his claims Mr. 5. O. Smith, M.P., stated that there w as no doubt Waitara had a just claim. On the motion of Messrs. Hoslin and Deare. it was resolved that representation be made to the Department pointing out the urgency of the application of June S, 19-20, for four class room* at vwutnra school, and that the board is of opinion, in accordance with its report of July, 1920, that this matter is next in importance to the Courtenav Street School.
