News from Pekin states that 30,000,000 persons are affected by the Northern China famine, of whom 15,000,000 are in dire distress.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Dec. 8, 9.20 p.m. Washington, Dec. 7. The Japanese Embassy has issued a statement to the effect" t£at Japan is widely interested in relieving the food famine in Northern China. Schools and universities are contributing iunds.— Aus.-N.Z.
