His Excellency the Governor-General and Lady .Tollico'e and family leave Wellington 'this afternoon for Auckland, where they will be in residence for two or three months. Mr. George Leach, an old resident of Carterton, died on Monday, at the age of S4 years. Deceased was a prominent member of St. Mark's Church, and at one time was an active member of the Carterton Bowling Club. Mr. George Valla, who has been stationmaster at Auckland for nearly six years, retired on Saturday after 41 years' service in the Railway Department. At a farewell gathering the railway staff presented Mr. Falla with a fine oak writing desk, and a travelling rug for Mrs. Falla.
