BOWLING.

NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR. The team of New South Wales bowlers which will tour the Dominion in the New Year will arrive in New Plymouth on January !8. ami will play Taranaki on the following day. On Sunday the visitors will be (alien to the mountain and they leave on Monday morning to play at Wangnnul. On Friday evening of this week there will he a meeting or howlers in the New Plyaioulh Club's pavilion at 7.H0 to discuss arrangements In connection Witt the visit of tho New South Wales players and other important matters. 'l7c meeting will commence at 7,00, and it is hoped that all clubs in New Plymouth will he fully represented.

TOURNAMENTS. With the growing popularity of bowling It is confidently expected that there will be a substantial increase in the number of entries for the Taranaki Centre's New Year tournament. The tournament is confined to members of clubs affiliated to the Centre and will be played on the New Plymouth, Fltzroy, and West Bnd greens. The entry will be 16s per rink and troptles will be awarded the winners and runners up. Section games will be of 16 heads, and the semi-finals and final 21 heads. Each section will find Us own winner and In the case of ties seven heads will be played. Entries close with the Centre secretary (Mr. A. t. Moore), at 8.30 p.m. on the 23rd. A record entry 13 expected for the open tournament which commences on January 24 and already numerous applications have been received asking tht accommodation for visiting rinks be booked. The fact that in tte section play two games w.'Jl bo ployed each day instead oK three, will tend to add to the popularity of the fixture. Quite a number of rinks from New Plymouth clubs Intend taking part In the Wanganul tournament at Christmas time. The Taranaki Centre proposes sending a touring team to Wanganul and Palmerston North towards the end of February to play matches against the Wanganu! and Manawatu Centres. Auckland Centre will play a return visit to Taranaki early in March. The programme is now under cons!
