Preston's Cow Detector Kaupokonui Chairman's Advice to Suppliers The following letter is being sent by the Chairman of the Kaupokonui Dairy Factory Company to all suppliers of that Company, and fully explains itself: "THE KAUPOKONUI DIRECTORS, after inspecting and trying PRESTON'S COW DETECTOR, a simple and cheap little machine used for the purpose of detecting the robber cows in the herd, hav^ - purchased the right to use and sell these a lowprice to the suppliers. "The machine weighs each cow's milk, and samples may be taken of every cow's milk with very little trouble. "The machine is very cheap, can be attached to any releaser plant, is very light to handle ana easy to clean. "Preston's Detector was installed on trial on the Government Experimental Farm at Manaia, and the Directors of that institution, who are well known and keen business men, have since purchased the plant, where it can be seen at work at any time. "Besides this four of the Kaupokonui Directors are installing these machines, which is a further guarantee of their utility. "In my opinion, no dairy farmer can afford to farm in these times of dear land and cows without knowing the individual merit of each of his cows. "If you cannot afford to replace your dummy cows you can at least feed your good cows better by getting rid of cows that are losing you money every day. _ "My advice to all suppliers is to inspect this cheap and useful little machine and ascertain what cows to cull and replace this coming season. "Farmers should remember the cost to prrducV butter depends on the yield of butterfat per cow, as rent, interest on cows, labour, etc., are the same whether you are milking good or bad cows. "Every farmer knows that it takes a certain yield of fat per cow to meet expenses, and that all over a certain yield is absolute profit. "Therefore, my advice to you, as your Chairman, watching your interests as well as the Company's, is to inspect these machines at work, follow tfie lead of your Directors an* ascertain the worth of each individual cow in your herd,, remembering a goJd heifer is better than a bad cow. "By combining orders we have made excellent term; and all orders booked at the Kaupokonui Store or Faefoi interests of our suppliers, _' promptly attended to. "W. D. POWDRELL." 'THE SAME PRIVILEGES THAT WERE OFFERED TO AND ACCEPTED BY THE KAUPOKONUI COMPANY ARE NOW OPEN TO EVERY DAIRY FARCTORY ('<>. IN • TARANAKI. ME. E. J. PEESTON, General Manager of the Preston Cow Testing Machine Company, i» at praent in Hawera, and may be consulted during the coming week by Chairmen and Director's of 00-op. Dairy Factory Companies.
