"Ha 11—7.15, 11, 3 and 7; young people, 10 and 1.45. MARANATHA. SIGNS OF CHRIST'S COMING. THE POLITICAL SIGN. The astounding fact that confronts us at the present day is, that there should be found Christians who actually do not take any interest whatever in this sublime subject, never speak of it or teach it; while some even venture to deny the plain teaching sot forth in the Scriptures of the personal coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to take away His people before the awful judgments spoken of in the Revelation fall upon a Christ-reject-ing world. It is clearly evident that with All the complex and elaborate machinery of modern governments, in every country, they are failing to cope successfully with evil; to stop the ravages of war, and to secure a state of permanent peace. Furthermore, when we see the terrible spirit of lawlessness everywhere manifest, culminating in the various and unprecedented forms of a reckless democracy, it must be admitted that the impotence of the ruling powers to deal with evil is becoming more and more apparent every day. These are some of the dark shadows east on the earth clearly foretold in the Word of God, and they point to still more serious evils that shall arise during the Great Tribulation (after the people of God are translated like Enoch of old) and they' ought to be regarded by all who consider these things as significant tokens that we are on the eve of a most momentous crisis. But it must be distinctly remembered that we do not point to these things, so much as signs of the Coming Rapture, inasmuch as no events are spoken of in Scripture as occurring before that. We conclude, however, that if the judgment of the unbelieving world be near at "hand, then the Rapture (or translation) must be still nearer; because this has to take place some few years before the awful tribulation judgments commence in their intensity. The whole world appears to be in a state of unprecedented commotion like the ocean in a boisterous storm. How apt are the words of our Lord for these times: "Distress of nations with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on earth." —St. Luke 21; 25-26.
