Bailey, S-M., presided, and the other members of tV committee present were: Messrs. T. P. Hughsony W. C. Clement, M. O'Brien, A. H. Guy, and N. C- Innis. TRANSFERS GRANTED. Transfers Were granted the following: Club Hotel, Opunake, Albert Edward Brunette to Keogh. Waimate Hotel, Manaia. Alexander Sanson to William M. Vivian. THE RAHOTU HOTEL. The clerk (Mr. Ching) said there were some matters arising out of the minutes in connection with the Rahotu [Totel. A police report stated that the majority of the work ordered had been J carried out, including that to the sep(ic tank and the lavatory on the second I floor. That on the lower floor had not ! been put in order, but this was said to I be due to inability to obtain cement.

Mr. Ryan, who appeared for the licensee (Dunn) said there were several other matters that required attention. In reply to questions, Dunn said the house leaked in a number of places; this lie believed to be due to faulty i weather boarding.

The architect declared that the weather boarding was satisfactory. "In reply to Mr. Hnghson he denied that the stopping had been omitted, It might have been overlooked in one or two places. If the house was properly painted the leaks would cause no more trouble.

Sergeant Henry was of opinion that it was a most unsatisfactory job if the paint had to be depended upon to keep the rain out, although a coat of paint would cover a multitude of weaknesses.' Mr. Ryan did not think a coat of paint would provide the required remedy. The chairman said the house would have to be put in order immediately.

Mr. Clement thought the committee should have some assurance of this.

Mr. Barnes, deputy official Public Trustee, agent for the estate of the late Mr. Hawkins, owner of the hotel, paid they were anxious to put the house in a satisfactory state of repair. Sergeant Henry said the hotel bad been in a bad condition for many years. It was high time that some finality was arrived at.

The chairman agreed. There had been trouble in connection with this house ever since he had been in the district. The house would have to be put in order. —Argus.
