The House of Lords, by ISO voles to 86, amended the Home Rule Bill, eresiting second chambers for both North Md South Ireland, despite Lord Birkenlw*d's protests that no second chamber WH be devised which would not destroy the representative character of the ifcfjt chamber. Lord Middleton, Lord Selbourne, and t*>rd Crewe opposed this. Lord Birkenhead later said their Lordships had made a big hole in the Bill, and he wag doubtful if the whole Bill could survive such a blow.—Aus.32. Cable Assn.

London, Nov. 30. Before the Freeman's Journal offiee ■was stt on fire, armed masked men entered the offices of the Unionist paper, the Irish Times, and at the revolver's point extracted proiriises from the editorial staff that nothing was to be divulged. In > the House of Commons during the debate on the Irish position, Sir Hamar Greenwood said that the Liverpool and London outrages showed that the Sinn Fein murder gang was carrying its senselegs campaign of murder and arson into Britain, and it would be extended to private persona and property here un!es« the country was thoroughly roused. He read telegrams regarding the Kilmichael ambush which showed that the ambuscaders consisted of 80 to 100 men clad in- khaki with steel trench helmets. They fired from both sides of the road. •There was also direct and enfilade fire. Some of the Crown men were disarmed and brutally murdered, the bodies being rifled and all money and valuables taken and clothing robbed from the corpses. Sir H. Greenwood thought that with 15 ex«officers in the lat* war thus lying dead, tha House would not wish to continue the discussion in face of the challenge to the authority of the House and civilisation. Captaijr Archer Redmond said that hone in the House would accuse him or thoie associated with him of feeling anytiling but the deepest regret at such an •oixage. ENGLISH LABORITES. THE VISIT TO IRELAND. London, Dec. I. The English Labor Commission of Inquiry into Irish conditions has arrived In Dublin. Mr. Henderson, interviewed, declared that the Commission would carefully consider the proposal of the Sinn Fein member of Parliament, Mr. Sweetman, for an immediate conference with the Irish Labor Party, the Roman Catholic hierarchy, and the Irish Peace Conference.
Mr. Henderson declared that the Comznission was convinced that once a halt in the murderous strife was called it would be possible to attain a permanent settlement on the lines of conciliation *ad content. WARNINGS IN OOR± London, Nov. 30.
