THE STAGE IN COURT.
PERFORMERS AND ALLEGED ASSAULT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The vaudeville artist Louia la Bran, (32), who was arrested on a charge of having assaulted Alice Ermey, a female vaudeville artist, at the Opera House, when thei Iperiormers were arranging their properties early in the day for a show at a later hour, came before Mr. Poynton, S.M., this morning, and was* remanded till Monday. Tho injured woman was in attendance, and there were several wltneages from the playhouse present to give evidence, but in view of the fact that Mr. Singer, who is representing accused, was engaged in the murder trial at the, Supreme Court, an adjournment was made as stated, in order that accused might not he embarrassed in .Ma defence. The evidence of some of the wit-' nesses, who have to leaye for Sydney at the week-end in the course of their business, will be taken to-mouow morning.
